Northern Voices, Shared Stories

Paper Town Writers Collective is a community writing space created to champion Northern Ontario voices and the stories rooted in this place. Founded by J.L. Fizzell, the collective exists to nurture creative practice, share regional work, and honour the many ways people live, write, and make meaning in the North.

At its heart, Paper Town is about connection — between writers and their words, between individuals and community, and between story and place. Through writing highlights, shared resources, and opportunities for collaboration, the collective offers space for writers at all stages to be seen, supported, and encouraged.

One expression of this work is Northern Voices, a series dedicated to showcasing regional talent and celebrating the breadth of creativity across Northern Ontario. These offerings are shaped by care, curiosity, and a belief that meaningful creative communities grow through relationship rather than performance.

This community work is closely connected to Living, Northern, where photography, story, and place intersect — and will continue to evolve as new shared and guided creative spaces take shape.

For now, Paper Town Writers Collective is home.
More spaces are coming — built slowly, and in conversation.
